Asian Celebrity Commercials

When it comes to commercials, Zhang Ziyi (章子怡) is always cast as the “action girl”.  Remember the series of Visa ads?  Well, add this latest from Mercedes-Benz titled “The Contract” and inspired by the 1978 movie “The Driver” to the collection where our leading lady is seen as the cool chauffeur showing off her her driving prowess in the sleek new SLK Passion . 

Seriously, she needs to fire her hairstylist.  That hairstyle is awful and doesn’t flatter her face shape one bit.

I recently caught China’s multi-talented Xu Jinglei (徐静蕾) who is an award-winning actress, critically acclaimed director, star blogger and editor in The Warlords.  She didn’t catch my eye that much and after watching her TVCM promoting Zhen Guo Li Yogurt drink, I think the woman looks better when she’s not smiling.

Before watching The Warlords, I’ve heard about Xu Jinglei being the top blogger in China.  I took a look at her blog and noticed it was more of a personal online journal but I have no doubt about its popularity given her celebrity status.  And the woman is clever to capitalize on her online fame by launching her own e-magazine Kai La (开啦电子杂志) at www.kaila.com.cn.

This is S-Pop singer JJ Lin Jun Jie’s (林俊杰) latest TVCM with Kym (金莎) for Walls Cornetto Ice Cream in China.  View and download their TVCM direct from the website.  More stuff like wallpapers will be available later so check back again.

JJ is a Singapore singer who has found fame in Taiwan and China while Kym is a Chinese singer who is known for her duet with JJ titled 被风吹过的夏天.  Both belong to the same recording company, Ocean Butterflies.

Last month, Lust, Caution starlet Tang Wei (汤唯) was announced as the latest endorser for Pond’s skincare products in China, an endorsement which reportedly earned her a bulky six million yuan (US$835,632).  You can catch the TV-CM at Pond’s China website.

Update: The TV-CM is not longer available at Pond’s due to the ban on Tang Wei in China but here is the video.

Tang Wei, if you don’t already know, was selected from more than 10,000 actresses to appear in Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution starring Tony Leung and Wang Lee Hom.  I wouldn’t call her a dashing beauty but after watching the commercial, I have to concede that the lady has very flawless skin, certainly fitting for Pond’s Flawless White she’s endorsing for sure.
